Weapons of Medieval Times
Weapons were obviously needed in medieval times because there were always wars and the such going on. This was also a time of great advancement in military technology.
Swords
The sword was the basic weapon of choice for any soldier. 4 types of swords are an Arming sword, which was usually used along with a shield or buckler. The Great sword, which were longer swords that could be one or two handed. The Zweihander which is another long sword but requires two hands. The Claymore which had a cross hilt with forward- sloping quillons with quatrefoil terminations.
Siege Weapons
Siege weapons were used to break down walls or heavy fortifications or break up huge groups of men. The battering ram which was used to break down fortification's doors. The ballista was essentially a huge crossbow that fired missles that could launch stones or large "darts". The trebuchet is a type of catapult where the sling is placed in a trough below the axle and when the men "hit the switch", the counterweight will lift the sling and "throw" the projectile much like a human arm.
Battle Axe
Axes were first used as tools for cutting down trees, but because of how sharp they were, it was a handy weapon as well. Over time, different types of axes were created. Some to be used as tools, some to be used as weapons. Battle axes were lighter weight than the axe used for chopping trees, so you could swing faster. Battle axes were also designed to chop legs and arms.
Halberd
The halberd is a two-handed pole weapon which usually had a spike or metal side opposite to the main side to make it easier to kill mounted enemies. Over time, the halberd's staff part was made into metal so it could deflect sword attacks. The point on top was added to the halberd so it could effectively work as a spear as well. This weapon was the weapon of choice for the Swiss. A Swiss peasant was able to kill the Duke of Burgundy,

Crossbow
The crossbow was a different type of ranged weapon unlike the longbow. It was like an ancient "gun" in a way because you would have the projectile loaded, and you would pull a trigger launching the the projectile and then you would reload, much like a gun except without the great distance.
