Medieval Entertainment
Medieval entertainment was much different from what we consider to be entertainment today. Music is one common form of entertainment that we consider being entertainment today, but jousts were a form of entertainment, but that involed killing someone. Huge feasts would be held where jesters would perform different acts for their audience. Board games were also a nice form of entertainment as well.
Feasts
Feasts were usually held to celebrate holidays or special occasions. Lords and nobles of a kingdom would come together inside one's castle or into a courtyard where all the festivites would be. Musci, dancing, and girft exchanges also occured at these events, much like a wedding reception.
Tournaments were another form of entertainment. It was a sporting event held in a large arena. This is where knights would come to practice their fighting skills, such as jousting. The people of the kingdom could come to watch the fights and to cheer their favored knight.
Games
Games were a fun way to past the time. Chess, Backgammon, Shovelboard and Knucklebones were all board games. They also had outdoor games such as Archery, Colf, Horseshoes, and Hammer-Throwing. These games helped the time go by faster while still enjoying the day.
Music
Music was a huge part of entertainment, but also society. It could tell stories of great wars or warriors and battles providing both entertainment and knowledge. Musicians and minstrels would sing and play for lords and nobles alike.
Actors
Performing artists were people who provided entertainment in multiple different ways. Sometimes it was humor, sometimes it was to amaze the audience. You could have jesters, acrobats, tumblers or contortionists and all of them provided entertainment in their own unique ways.
